Eligibility

The Pearls Scholarship is open to undergraduate students in Nigerian federal and state universities who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, and leadership potential.

Important Notes

  • The Pearls Scholarship is open only to undergraduate students in Nigerian federal and state universities (100–400 level).

  • Note: 400 level applies to 5-year courses only.

  • Secondary school students, private university students, and postgraduate students are not eligible.

  • A 1,000 word essay on the topic:
    “Why should you be awarded this scholarship?” is mandatory to complete your application.

  • Essays must be submitted in Word or PDF format to pearlsscholarship1@gmail.com within the stated deadline.

  • Applications with missing or false information will be automatically disqualified.

Eligibility

The Pearls Scholarship is designed for students who are hardworking, committed, and full of potential but face financial barriers that limit their education. To ensure the scholarship reaches those who need it most, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Nationality

Be a Nigerian citizen (for now, the programme is limited to Nigeria).

Admission

Be enrolled or seeking admission into a recognized tertiary institution.

Academic Records

Demonstrate strong academic performance and commitment to learning.

Requirements For Pearls Scholarship

When applying for the Pearls Scholarship, applicants are expected to provide the following documents based on their category:

Newly Admitted Students (Aspirants)

1. Admission letter
2. O’Level result (WAEC/NECO or equivalent)
3. JAMB result

For Current Students (100–400 Level)

1. Admission letter
2. Previous semester result (academic transcript/statement of result)
3. School ID card (or its equivalent
Note: 400 Level (for a 5-year course ONLY)

In addition to the documents, all applicants will

1. Complete the online application form accurately.
2. Write an essay (1,000 words) as part of the screening stage.
3. Be available for a virtual interview if shortlisted.

The scholarship is open only to Nigerian students seeking admission into, or currently enrolled in, recognised tertiary institutions (Federal or State universities). Secondary school students are not eligible.

  • For newly admitted students: Admission letter, O’Level result, JAMB result.

  • For current students (100–400 level): Admission letter, last semester result, and school ID card (or equivalent).

No strict age limit applies. However, applicants must fall within the normal age range of undergraduate students in tertiary institutions.

Selection is based on three main criteria:

  • Academic performance

  • Financial need

  • Leadership potential and personal goals (assessed through essays and interviews)

Yes. Students who did not get selected may reapply in the next cycle, provided they still meet the eligibility criteria.
